The countdown is on

The months before the wedding were a huge blur of dates. Chemo, hen's night, hospitals, bridal shower, shopping, working, planning, emergency rooms, flowers, Babies being born, appointments, trying to look after Adam. I was so busy I didn't have time to feel anything. I just had to do it. I had amazing friends and family who all helped. My families from work were so understanding and went out of their way to make it easy for me to take time off for travel, appointments, hospital visits, and the wedding.

I actually felt cheated by cancer. It took away the excitement and fun of wedding planning. It made it stressful, unimportant, and I just wanted it to be over.

Late night visits to the emergency room seemed to become our favourite passtime in between chemo cycles. Due to the chemo attacking all Adams rapidly dividing cells, not only did he lose his hair but he also lost his immune system. This meant any fever sent us straight to the hospital incase he had an infection. One of the joys of treatment.

This photo sums it all up. blurry, tired, worried, 3am.

Friday 2 October 2009 - 3 days before we leave for our wedding on Stradbroke Island. 11pm we are getting ready for bed and my hopes for sleep are dashed as Adam tells me he has a fever again. Off to emergency we go. I get home at an ungodly hour of the morning/middle of the night. Adam is (eventually) admitted to hospital. I get roughly 2.5 hours sleep and wake up to a text message telling me our friend has given birth!

So running on 2.5 hours sleep in about 48 hours I set about the task of shopping for and organising last minute wedding things, grocery shopping, getting us packed to go to Stradbroke Island and taking a bag to Adam in hospital as it seems he is staying. We try to get information out of the doctors about how long Adam will be there as we are leaving the next day, but getting that info out of them is like pulling teeth!

We decided to go on an elevator ride to visit our friends and their new little baby Connor. He is just so cute and small, I want to take him home! It was very nice of him to arrive early so we could meet him before we left for our wedding.

I reluctantly left the new baby (while sprouting new feathers)and Adam at the hospital to get the rest of the to-do list done. Finally Adam could come home but needed a dose of chemo before we could leave! I picked him up from hospital with the car packed for Stardbroke Island and only minutes to spare to get there before we missed our ferry.
